Resumen del libro: En este texto se publican 20 artículos que documentan, describen   y analizan experiencias innovadoras de la gestión pública local en Chile. Las interesantes iniciativas contenidas en él fueron las seleccionadas para el premio a la Innovación en Ciudadanía en su versión  2004. Originadas tanto en grupos de la sociedad civil como en programas e instituciones gubernamentales y municipales, abordan  cuatro áreas relevantes de la gestión pública: la sociedad civil en al gestión  ambiental; los desafíos de ciudadanía en al reformas de salud; el rol de los municipios en la gestión territorial y nuevas propuestas de gestión social.  En conjunto constituyen una muestra de los nuevos caminos que se están recorriendo a largo y ancho de Chile en el fortalecimiento de la ciudadanía, la construcción de nuevos vínculos entre sociedad civil y Estado, junto al reconocimiento y ejercicio de los derechos ciudadanos.

Summary of the book: In this text are published 20 articles that document, describe and analyze innovative experiences in local public management in Chile. The interesting initiatives contained in it were those selected for the Innovation in Citizenship prize in its 2004 version. Originating in civil society groups as in governmental and local programs and institutions, they tackle four relevant areas of public management: civil society in environmental management; the challenges of citizenship in health reforms; the role of the municipality in the territorial management and new proposals for social management. As a whole they constitute a sample of the new paths that extend throughout the length and breadth of Chile in the strengthening of citizenship and the construction of new links between civil society and the State, next to the recognition and exercise of citizen rights.
